Language
Language involves both reception (comprehension) and expression. Children with language disorders typically exhibit the following types of deficiencies:
Late talker
Difficulty following simple or multi-step directions
Difficulty answering questions
Requirement for repetition of question asked or instruction/direction given
Limited amount of language
Deficient nonverbal communication skills (i.e., use of gestures, facial expressions, and proper body language may be limited)
Deficient grammar
Deficient literacy skills
Difficulty in reading, writing, and spelling
